ABOUT THE SGW DEVELOPEMENT
Spring Garden West is located on the south side of the western end of Spring Garden Road. It will be a mixed use residential development that desires to be an important contribution to the city’s urban fabric and a driving force for the rejuvenation of the Spring Garden district. It will be home for over 300 luxury residential apartments complete with amenity level roof terraces & gardens and 3 floors totalling 100,000 ft2 of leading edge professional and medical oriented office space. The development will also provide over 25,000 ft2 of shop front commercial space at street level with over 300 public parking spaces sheltered below.
It’s design values include the best healthy building practices; LEED certified sustainability and interactive streetscape designed for pedestrian comfort and livability. It will also include the enhancement of the site’s unique role at the interface of the city’s important university, medical, residential and commercial districts. There will be recognition of the neighbourhood’s significant cultural heritage by the adaptive-reuse of the property’s three heritage buildings along Carlton Street and relationship to the historic “common green” and nearby Victorian Public Gardens. These values for the Spring Garden West design are the reason why public engagement and input is essential for it to be the best possible new addition to the city’s urban environment.

LOCATIONThe site’s unique location at the interface of Dalhousie University, the western gateway to Spring Garden Road, one block from the Public Gardens and on the edge of the medical and research districts; makes this development a major anchor for the entire city and a vehicle to further enliven Spring Garden Road (Atlantic Canada's premiere shopping district). The development will be a landmark urban design experience for the city and model of sustainable design (LEED certified).
